Delete account and data
You decide how long your data stays with Churchpoint. This page explains how to delete your account, what gets deleted and what we have to keep for legal reasons.
Last updated: September 2026
1. Who even has an account?
Only organisers have an account with Churchpoint, that is churches and organisations that publish events. If you only sign up for events or buy tickets, you do not need an account. For that case there is a separate section further down.
2. Delete your account in the app
The quickest way is through the Churchpoint app:
- Open the Churchpoint app and sign in as an organiser.
- Tap the More tab at the bottom right.
- Scroll down and tap Delete account.
- Confirm the safety prompt with „Delete permanently".
The deletion happens immediately. You are signed out automatically and can no longer sign in with this account.
Important: as long as you still have published events in the future, deletion is blocked. That protects your guests, otherwise valid tickets would disappear without warning. Take those events offline first or wait until they have taken place.
3. Have your account deleted by email
No longer have the app installed, or cannot get into your account? Then send us an email to info@churchpoint.de with the subject „Delete account". Please send the message from the email address the account was created with, that is how we know the request really comes from you.
We handle the request within 30 days and confirm the deletion by email.
4. Which data gets deleted?
Along with your account, the following is removed permanently and irreversibly:
- your sign-in account including email address and password,
- your organiser profile (name, description, website, social media links, contact email, profile picture),
- all events you created including images and descriptions,
- the sign-ups and tickets belonging to those events, including guest data (name, email address, phone number, comments).
5. Which data stays, and why?
If paid tickets were sold through Churchpoint, the related payment records stay stored, both with us and with our payment provider Stripe. We are not allowed to delete this data: commercial and tax law require us to keep accounting records, usually for up to 10 years (§ 147 German Fiscal Code, § 257 German Commercial Code). During that time the processing is limited to storage, we do not use the data for anything else. Once those periods end, this data is deleted too.
We never saw or stored card numbers or bank details, payments run entirely through Stripe.
6. You have no account, but tickets or sign-ups?
If you signed up for an event without an account, your data sits in two places:
- On your device: your tickets and favourites are stored only locally in the app. If you delete the app they are gone, you do not have to contact us for that.
- With the organiser: name, email address and possibly phone number and comment are part of the sign-up, so the organiser can identify you at the door.
To have this sign-up data deleted, write to us at info@churchpoint.de and tell us the email address you signed up with. We handle that within 30 days as well.
7. Your other rights
Besides deletion, the GDPR gives you the right to access, rectification, restriction of processing and data portability, among others. How to exercise these rights is described in our privacy policy.
